History

The Central Texas Community Band was originally formed under the name “Jarrell Community Band” by the band staff at Jarrell ISD.  Head director Scott Lanham and Middle School band director Stephen Grant spear headed the initial formation of the ensemble.  Jarrell ISD generously supported the group, allowing use of their facilities both in rehearsal at Jarrell Middle School band hall and in performances at the new Jarrell ISD Performing Arts Center.

The fall of 2022 saw the ensemble’s rehearsals being moved to the Salado Middle School band hall and organization of the ensemble being taken over by James Whitis (UMHB Retired), Charla Kelley (Salado ISD Retired) and Frank Coachman (Deputy Director of TMEA)

The name of the ensemble was also changed from “Jarrell Community Band” to “The Community Band of Central Texas”.  (tcboct.org)
